Dear Brother and Sister Torrie,
I couldn't help but write you a little note and tell you what an amazing funeral service that was today! I felt the spirit, so so much. So much I just started crying. Wayne was such a good friend, to everyone. As I looked around in the crowd today, there was a variety of people. People who loved Wayne.
Thank you for sharing his testimony. What a strong testimony that is! It helped strengthen mine, and helped me to remember that my Father in Heaven loves me! Wayne was such a great young man, and will be greatly missed by many. He was so kind. I looked up to him! Thank you for raising such a strong son, a son who would bring many unto our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Please give Kveena a hug from me, and tell her she looked beautiful! Please give Shad, Adam, Andrew, and Kaera a hug from me also. I never got to tell Shad what a great job he did playing the Cello. Adam and Andrew looked so perfect, so adorable with their little teddy bears. Kaera looked like a little angel in her white dress. Your family looked beautiful. And Brother Torrie, you did an amazing job speaking, and singing. Your talk brought in a miraculous spirit. And Sister Torrie, you shared Wayne's testimony, which as I mentioned before...strengthened mine, and I am positive many others. You sharing his testimony also brought in a miraculous spirit. I loved being in the chaple because the spirit was so strong.
I love your family. You have such an amazing family! You guys are in my thoughts and prayers constantly. You guys have touched my life for good. I will try my hardest to become a little better for Wayne, improve someone else's day. Thank you for everything!

I never knew anyone who could make anyone in the world happy, until I met Wayne. His smile just lit up my day. He was so sweet, always maing sure everyone else knew that they were loved. I'll miss him a lot. He was like a brother to me.

Wayne once said I was prettier than the moon. To me he was more dazzling than the sun. His smile made everyone happy. I try not to think about him being gone, but try to remember the good times and how we would always hang out at lunch. Most of all I think about how infectious he was with his warm personallity. Even though he is not with us any more I will never forget him. Wayne is in my prayers and so is his family. Lots of love.

Grandma Torrie called me with the sad news of Wayne's death. I was going to say "untimely," but I think we all know there was a highe power directing the events of our lives. Especially this will be true with Wayne, who has always been willing to say, "Thy will be done." and then done his best to do his part here on earth in building the Kingdom. I have been preparing a set of temple experiences for use in a youth activity in connection with our new Vancouver TEmple Open House. I will enclose one which I think will bring comfort and understanding for you at this time. My prayers and thoughts are with you, especially today, as you attend the funeral. From my own experience when John died, I know the funeral service will provide peace and comfort, though there will be tear. Love, Aunt Barbara

Our hearts ache for you. Our daughter had Wayne in some of her classes. In reading about Wayne, one can tell he was an amazing person--born to a special family who loved him dearly.

Wayne reminds me of one of those awesome jet planes in the air show, zipping across the sky...everyone looks up in awe to watch it race across the blue, commenting on how fantastic it is and feeling almost privileged to witness such a phenomenon. This jet leaves beautiful trails of white airstream behind it, long visible after the jet is far from ... See Moresight. Children and those observant enough to look, will continue to be in awe at the magical trails of sky writing the jet left behind. Unbeknownst to the public standing on the ground, they are all recipients of this jet stream as it dissipates into the very air they breath, becoming a part of their very existence. Wayne was fantastic and awesome to behold in his short time on earth, and certainly now that he is out of sight, we still see his beautiful jet stream of his life etched in the sky of our hearts and our minds, dissipating only enough to become a part of us. We feel the benefit of his life as if he were trailing streams of love that sprinkle down upon us and nourish our sometimes parched and needful souls. Indeed, Wayne's love, laughter and friendship has become a part of all who knew him, as is the very air they breath sustains life...so shall the memory of Wayne and the legacy he left all of us help sustain lives for ages to come. When I would look at this picture during the funeral, it was on my mom's lap and it looked like Wayne was staring right at me with a hapy look on his face and in his eye...I would just cry remembering the friend I have in him. Thank you Raeghn for telling me that he talked about me like he did...it means so much to me to know that he thought well of me as a good friend and I wasn't just a girl at camp that teased him constantly.

Mikaela Durfey Wayne, I really don't remember having a friend that was nicer than you. If I needed to talk to someone completely pure an unencumbered by judgement, I would always turn to you. When I least expect it, I see your smiling face and hear your voice saying, "I just said that you had beautiful eyes!" Wayne, you truly had ...no boundaries in your awesome love for everyone.
Wayne, what I learned from you is to never give up. I learned how painful it may be to go through this life, but keeping your head is the best thing to do. I learned to lean on the Lord when I thought he couldn't hear. I remember just being happy to see you on the bus and at church. You always had the best comments and the most amazing smile ever!

McKayla Leishman We met and became good friends, we didn't even know each others names...You knew me as Matt's girlfriend, and I knew you as Matt's friend. But after that passed, we had to learn each others name. That's when our friendship began to flourish. You always made my day with your smile and optimistic attitude towards life. Katlynn Maughan I don't really think you saying "You have nice lips" to Mikeala is that weird anymore I realize you were just being the super nice guy you always were. You never had bad days either that or you didn't let it show because you didn't want others around you to be in a bad mood too. I still don't know why you ever did half... of the stuff you did but some of them I'm glad you did because it just made you that much more amazing. You were one of the best people I ever knew! Also one of the coolest! You are still missed and I still kinda expect you to get on the bus tomorrow and talk to us but I have finally realized that yopu are never coming back. :( But while you were here on the earth you enriched my life!

I cried so much. Especially right after seeing his body. That was the most overwhelming moment of my life so far. I really like to think that Wayne had this big plasma screen TV on in heaven and was tuned into that channel. I hope he saw just how many people loved him.

Jacob Elwood Wayne.. If there was two people last year that have been
really close, I know that that would be us and after that time! We were always
doing crazy, talking crazy, EVERYTHING crazy. We were strong and built each
other like unto rocks. I plan on staying strong "like a rock" and
keep on building onto other foundations like w...e did together. I will remember
you often and always remember the great times we had. Every time at school when
we would chat about what we wanted to do, our dreams, our hopes, our feelings,
our situations, our experiences.. We would always hang around at the dances,
talk about girls, and throw calculator lids on top of the school (on accident
of course, good Frisbees!) We would talk about hot tubs, parties, more dances,
attraction, randomness, how to’s, vacations, family, photography club trips,
etc. We went to the movies, sleepovers, parties, blended ice cubes at midnight,
tried to shoot food in our mouths, went to lagoon, drama club, seminary,

Dear family of Wayne,
I want to let you know how much your sun has changed my life. I met Wayne last trimester. He was in several of my classes. We'd talk, and though we only talked at school, I considered us friends. He was always complimenting me and others. He always made everyone around him feel special, and happy.
I have decided to become more like him. I want to make those around me feel happy, and wonderful, just like Wayne did. I want to be slow to judge, and quick to find, and share the good things in people.
I miss him, but I take great comfort in knowing I'll see him someday. I want to thank you for raising such an amazing boy.
I wish you lots of love, and my prayers are with you.

I never knew how much Wayne taught me until he was gone. Even when he was gone he continued to teach me some important lessons. This week has been one of the hardest weeks of my life, but also one of my the most eye opening.
My favorite memories of Wayne were of the times we shared in Mr. Hernandez's P.E. class. Every week we would walk the mile together. We would chat and joke the whole time. I'm a big teaser and I don't think I've ever had the pleasure of knowing anyone who was a better sport. He took all of my teasing with such a gentle good humor and I love him for that. I now look back and cherish every conversation that we had. He never had a negative thing to say about anyone. I'm not a member of the LDS church and he never tried to push his religion onto me (although I could tell it was very important to him.) He just loved me for me and that's an uncommon and amazing trait.
I would like to thank both Wayne and you, his parents, for all of the lessons you have taught me, either directly or indirectly. Wayne's sudden passing has taught me to cherish life because you never know when it can be taken away from you. It has also taught me that death does not discriminate so make sure you show the ones you love how you feel every single day. In the past few days I have stopped and taken the time to tell at least 10 people in my life how much I love them, and I attribute that to Wayne. This devastating experience has made me a better person already. Thank you for helping to mold your son into the amazing person that he was. I love and miss him so much.
