THE SINK...

Kvinde and I went on some errands Saturday morning and realized we hadn't gotten anything to eat so we dropped by Angie's restaurant which is famous for good breakfasts. We looked at the menu and Kvinde started to joke about "cleaning the kitchen sink" which is a huge dessert that takes about 6 people to eat. She had eaten it once on a YW activity and so as joking goes, we decided to go for it and not order anything else. Holy COW!

Summerfest Art Show

Shad and I did the Logan Summerfest Art Show on the lawns of the Tabernacle. Shad was an amazing trooper helping get ready. We worked until 4 am getting ready. We did our first canvas printing, wrapping, and framing and it turned out pretty good. We sold one for $250.

Here Shad is cutting the prints in our studio with the precision of a doctor!Once we printed and cut to size we had to spray a sealant on the canvas since it would be out in the sun. It was about two in the morning and we were out on the street (fumes were too bad for doing it indoors). To keep the clamps from getting all varnished up we put them inside of plastic bags we found lying around.

Shad mounted all the hanging wires brackets on the back of the frames.

Then we stretched the canvas over a wood frame (Shad held the stretching pliers while I used the air stapler to attach the canvas all the way around the frame). It was about 3 am at this point and there are other renters in the studio building (we share the studio with two other friends). We were working in the basement and there were some old appliances down there so we put the air compressor in the fridge to cut down on the noise. It worked great until the compressor started to smoke! We had to open it up a bit but we weren't evicted so apparently we blocked enough sound.And here is the final product. When we first set up the 10x20 tent the wind picked up just as I was staking it down and flipped the whole thing over. People came running and helped us right it up. We were exhausted at that point and close to tears (well me anyway) but some good samaritans helped us get back on track and we got the canvas prints hung up and ready for sale. The show went pretty well but I better keep the day job!

Kaera

Well it is probably a good time to unload a bunch of Kaera pictures.

Here is a doozy! It is actually just banana that didn't make it through the right entry way but she's cute no matter what is hanging from her nose!

Kaera learned how to crawl this month! Mom wasn't too excited. Here she is in the middle of training. Exhausted she took a break mid stroke...

While the family was cleaning the church, Kaera got to play in the nursery. Now she's excited to get to 18 months so she can ride each week.
On a shopping trip with Dad we fit everyone in the cart. Got some looks!

Kvinde and I went to a YW activity and learned how to make fancy layered cakes. Our Polish baker friend Mark Grodkowski taught us how and then we went to it. We thought it turned out pretty good.

Memorial Day

It was probably my toughest day since the funeral (Mel). I don't know why but at the graveyard I really get sad. How thankful I am for the protection and strength of the Savior when I'm outside those gates. It is a grateful sadness but definitely sad. His smile was a light to all of us and we were so blessed to have him among us. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and support. What a blessing family and the gospel is! What reason we have to rejoice!

Weekend together

Kaera sure loves her mom. She's been an incredible baby. We can't imagine what life would be without her. She's been teething and you can't even tell. What a light in our home! (Raeghn too of course!)Adam disciplining the bad bunny...
Mel and Shad went on a photo expedition on canoe on a local river Monday morning and had a great time together. Dad's sure blessed to have a great photo companion.
While Shad and Dad were out teaching the 3rd discussion to some neighbors, Mom and the young ones went on a walk.
Kaera is too cool to be seen with dad but she tolerates him.

Schools Out - Party Time!!!

As is the yearly tradition, we held a party at our house which also happened to match up with Tia's birthday so there were two reasons to cut loose and have a good time. 60 kids showed up and it was quite a task keeping everyone entertained...

Chass, Mitch, and Raeghn did a super job keeping the food flowing. We had cake and ice cream, water melon, pizza, chips, tootsie rolls, cream puffs, etc... (Chass and Mitch also did all the clean up- THANKS (will have to invite them next year again!))

Shad's band did their first public appearance and they were awesome. It was neat how they took the initiative and put together some fun songs and played with energy only the Oilers of Grassy Lake could match. It was really exciting and a blast to watch.


Here are couple of shots from Andrew's Kindergarten Graduation. He sang great and was one of the most animated actors/dancers! We were very proud of him.
